Jean Monnet Chairs<\/h2><\/div>
Panteion University has a long-standing tradition in the study and teaching of European integration, namely the field internationally known today as European Union Studies.<\/p>\n

This is demonstrated by the high number of Jean Monnet Chairs<\/a> awarded to members of the University\u2019s teaching staff, dating back to the early 1990s and to the then unified Department of Political Science and International Studies, and subsequently to the Department of International and European Studies.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

These Chairs are funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+<\/a> Programme and aim to promote teaching and research on European integration. They are awarded for a period of three years following an open call for applications, in which academics from more than 70 countries worldwide are eligible to participate.<\/p>\n

The holders, year of award and subject area of the nine Jean Monnet Chairs awarded to members of the University\u2019s teaching staff \u2014 the highest number among Greek universities \u2014 are as follows:<\/p>\n

  5. Panayiotis Ifestos: \u201cEuropean Political Integration and European Security\u201d<\/li>\n
  6. Stelios Perrakis<\/a>: Jean Monnet Chair ad personam in \u201cDemocracy and Human Rights in the European Union\u201d<\/li>\n
  7. Argyris G. Passas<\/a> (2014): \u201cPublic Administration and European Integration\u201d<\/li>\n
  8. Maria-Daniella Marouda<\/a> (2017): \u201cEU Solidarity in the Field of Civil Protection and Humanitarian Action\u201d<\/li>\n
  9. Dionysis G. Dimitrakopoulos<\/a> (2025): \u201cDemocratic Governance in the European Union<\/a>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
