Maria-Daniella Marouda is Associate Professor of International Law – Humanitarian Law. (Lecturer in 2008, Assist.Professor in 2012, Tenured in 2017, Associate Professor in 2024). Since 2023, she has held the UNESCO Chair Holder Human Rights Democracy
and Peace. Held a Jean Monnet Chair (EU Solidarity in Civil
Protection and Humanitarian Action (2016-2019). Served as Director of European Training and Research Center on Human Rights and Humanitarian Action and is currently EMA Director for Panteion at the Global Human Rights Campus Master on Human Rights and
Democratization. Is the ViceChair of the Hellenic Society of International Law/ Relations Board (Since 2026). Served as Protection Officer for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Bosnia and Sri Lanka (1997-1999). In 2015 she was appointed independent expert in respect of Greece at the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) Council of Europe, where she also served as President for two terms. Studies: Law Faculty, Democritus University of Thrace (1995), Erasmus Diploma 1993/4 Leiden Reiskuniversiteit, The Netherlands, Master in International Law -Panteion University (1997) – PhD in International Law, IES, Panteion University (2004) (State Responsibility and Individual Criminal Responsibility for serious violations of international law). Post Doc Research (under a State Scholarship -(IKY) on the regulation of humanitarian action under international law (2007/8).
